Iduma Wingate age 82 of Mexico Beach, Florida went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. She was born in Port St. Joe, Florida on January 25, 1940 and spent all of her life there as a devoted wife and mother raising her three daughters. After her children were grown she worked at the local nursing home as a nurse’s assistant for forty plus years. Her life calling was taking care of people, after retiring she continued to help the sick in their homes. Iduma was a member of Beach Baptist Chapel and a faithful servant to the Lord. She enjoyed watching games shows and spending time with her family which she loved deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Jospeh Wood and Eva Lee Bennett Wood; husband, Sterling Preston Wingate; son, Sterling Preston Wingate Jr., a granddaughter Christina Lynn Ahrent and a brother, Broward Wood.
Iduma is survived by her three daughters, Phyllis Wingate, Cyndi Ellzey (Lee), and Paula Strickland; one sister, Eleanor Strader; four grandchildren, Cody Strickland (Ashley) Levi Strickland, Meghan Ellzey, and Ethan Ellzey.
A private family graveside will be held at Holly Hill Cemetery.
