Alvin Gadson Newell

Alvin Gadson Newell lifelong native of Apalachicola, Florida passed away in Tallahassee, Florida on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the age of 68. He was born on August 15, 1954 to the late Otis Newell and Alma Green Newell. Alvin worked for the St. Joe paper mill for twenty-four years and was currently working in the jail as a Sgt for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. He looked forward to evening truck rides with his dogs. Alvin was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren hunting and fishing. His wife and family was his heart and he always made sure they were properly provided for.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Eva Mae Coatney and one brother, John Newell.

Alvin is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Linda Sue Roberts Newell of Apalachicola, Florida; two daughters, Heather Dasher of Apalachicola, Florida and Brittney Cozadd (Zach) of Panama City, Florida; one brother, Jimmy Newell (Heidi) of Apalachicola, Florida; three sisters, Betty Nash (John) of Apalachicola, Florida, Gladys Castle of Pensacola, Florida and Edna Stanley of Apalachicola, Florida; five grandchildren, Skyler Newell, Emily Fichera, Caden Fichera, Declan and Luca Cozadd. He also survived by his fur babies, Rocky, Maddie, Chance and a grand fur baby, Bella.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Eastern Time on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Apalachicola, Florida with Pastor Susan Roach officiating.
