Barbara Ann King, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, in Tallahassee, Florida at the age of 66. Born on March 6, 1958, in Port St. Joe, Florida, Barbara was a dedicated member of her community and family.
For many years, Barbara worked in accounts receivable at the Franklin County School Board, where her commitment earned her the respect of colleagues and friends. After retiring, she filled her time with hobbies such as crocheting and crafts, embracing her creative spirit. Barbara cherished the moments spent glamping at the camp in Frink, Florida. She also enjoyed spending time with friends at the casino.
Family was the cornerstone of Barbara's life; she was known for her loving nature and exceptional cooking skills, bringing everyone together during holidays and family gatherings. Her legacy of love will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
Barbara is survived by her husband of twenty-two years, Mike King, of Havana, Florida; her five children, Tabitha Polous (Trent Kanewske) of Apalachicola, Florida, Amy Rabon, Charlie King (Sabrina), Laura Garner (Scott), and Samantha Samford, all from Tallahassee, Florida; and one sister, Denise Clayton (Michael) of Apalachicola. She also leaves behind nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Earl Lamar Smith, her mother, Diana Joe McDaniel Smith, and one brother, Allen Smith.
She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her and her spirit will live on through the many lives she touched.
A visitation will be held at the United Baptist Church in Eastpoint, Florida, on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM with Pastor Scott Shiver officiating. Interment will be held at Magnolia Cemetery in Apalachicola, Florida
