Bertha Mae Clayton, loving mother, sister, and nanny, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the age of 90.
She was born in South Bay, Florida to Noah and Edna Johnson and was blessed with 17 siblings. Bertha moved to Port St. Joe, Florida at an early age and made it her home. She retired from the Piggly Wiggly after 10 years.
Bertha was the loving mother to Faye (Freddie) Capps, Patricia (Al) Harwood, Michael (Denise) Clayton, and Jeffrey Clayton; cherished nanny to Kristi, Katlin, Cameron, Misty, Ashley, Gina, Dusty, Lisa, Sara, and Kayleigh; numerous great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as a special caretaker and friend, Gwen Dawson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clayton, her grandson, Joey Capps, and her granddaughter, Tammy Groome, as well as six siblings.
The family will welcome family and friends on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. Eastern Time at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 335 Selma Street, Port St. Joe, Florida for a celebration of her life.
Arrangements are entrusted to the caring staff of Comforter Funeral Home in Port St. Joe, Florida.
