David Lee Bollinger, affectionately known as "Bicycle Dave," departed this world on Friday, December 27, 2024, in the charming coastal town of Port St. Joe, Florida, a place he embraced as home for the past two decades. He was born on December 26, 1967, in Syracuse, New York and spent his childhood in California.
A painter by trade and a craftsman at heart, Dave was known locally as an all around handyman. His spirit radiated love and kindness, touching the lives of everyone he encountered. He had an uncanny ability to see the beauty in people and offered help to anyone in need, freely sharing his warmth and generosity.
David cherished the simple pleasures of life. The beach was his paradise, where he found solace in the rhythm of the waves and the warmth of the sun. He relished the thrill of fishing, casting lines into the shimmering waters, and flying kites as they danced joyfully against the backdrop of a bright blue sky. These moments brought him peace and happiness, moments that will be etched forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
He leaves behind his beloved mother, Linda Lee Ellington of Crossville, TN, and his cherished son, Nicholas Bollinger of Danville, Indiana. David is also survived by his two sisters, Deana Ingram (Drew) of Manlius, New York, and Windi Bollinger of Crossville, TN. He shared a special bond with his uncle Chris Bollinger (Sara) of Manlius, New York, and is remembered fondly by several cousins who were touched by his spirit.
Though he now joins his father, David Warner Bollinger, and his uncle Ronald Bollinger in eternal rest, his legacy lives on through the love he cultivated in his family and friends. David Lee Bollinger will be profoundly missed—a gentle soul whose laughter echoed like music upon the breeze, forever inspiring those left behind to embrace life’s colors with open arms.
A memorial service will be held on the beach at an undetermined date.
Arrangements are entrusted to the caring staff of Comforter Funeral Home in Port St. Joe, Florida.
