We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Deborah M. Faircloth, a cherished mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, who left us peacefully on January 20, 2024, at the age of 72, in Apalachicola, Florida.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, on October 5, 1951, to James and Gladys Milligan, Deborah was the beloved elder sibling in a family of two children. Her childhood in Lake City, Florida, was marked by warmth and learning, culminating in her graduation from Columbia County High School in 1969. She pursued higher education at Lake City Community College and later at Valdosta State University, where she earned her B.S. in Education.
Deborah's journey took her to Apalachicola, Florida, in 1975, where she began her esteemed career in education, teaching Biology and Girls Personal Education at Apalachicoola High School for seven years. Her path then led her to serve The State of Florida, HRS, in 1982, marking a distinguished 33-year career until her retirement in 2007 from The Department of Revenue.
Beyond her professional achievements, Deborah's true joy and legacy were her family. A devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, her family was her world, and she relished in being their biggest supporter in all their sports and endeavors. Her vibrant presence and unconditional love left an indelible mark on her family,
and she was often seen as the heart and soul of their gatherings.
Deborah is preceded in death by her parents, James C. Milligan and Gladys W. Milligan. Her memory is lovingly carried on by her daughter, Lindsey F. Walker (Harold), her adored grandchildren Carter, Ethan, AJ, Miliyah, Raylan, and Logan, her brother David W. Milligan (Jennifer), and nieces Shellie D. Young (Shelbi) and Lilly P. Milligan,
along with numerous cousins, family members, and friends.
A service to celebrate Deborah’s life will be held at The First Baptist Church of Apalachicola on Saturday, January 27th, at 11:00 am (EST). The service will be followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall at The First Baptist Church.
In remembrance of Deborah’s generous spirit and lifelong devotion to her faith and community, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Baptist Church 46 9th Street Apalachicola, FL. 32320.
Deborah's warmth, love, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and an unending love for her family and community. May she rest in peace and her memory be a blessing.
