Deborah J. Meadows, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and, left this world peacefully on October 24, 2024, in Port St. Joe, Florida. Born on November 21, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee, Debbie embodied kindness and creativity throughout her life, making a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
For twenty years, Debbie dedicated herself to serving others as an Emergency Medical Technician for clinics and the Memphis Fire Department. Her compassionate spirit and unwavering commitment to helping those in need inspired many, and she touched countless lives through her work. Alongside her career, Debbie was a talented and well-known artist in and around Memphis, Tennessee. Her artistic talents flowed into everything she did, leaving behind a legacy of beauty and warmth.
Debbie’s love for her family was boundless. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry G. Meadows Sr., and her cherished children: son Jerry G. Meadows Jr. and daughters Buffie D. Lupo, Heidi D. Childress, and Heather V. Daugherty. Each of her grandchildren — Robert C. Daughtery, Eli N. Daughtery, Amber M. Yager, Evelyn S. Meadows, Trevor A. Meadows, Dakota T. Dotson, Ashley Dotson, Maria K. Henson, Kyndle Lupo Chapman, Lauren Lupo Schrader, and Madison Lupo Flanigan — brought her immense joy, and she gleefully embraced her role as a grandmother to five great-grandchildren. Debbie is also remembered by her loving sister, Donna D. Nivens.
In the hearts of those who knew her, Debbie will always be remembered for her vibrant personality and her gentle soul. Reflecting on her journey, her proudest accomplishments are encapsulated beautifully in her favorite verse: "But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31).
She joins her beloved mother, Sarah Wray; father, J.D. Wray; and brother, Joey Wray, in eternal rest. The legacy of love and light that Debbie created will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
A memorial gathering to celebrate her life will be held on November 16, 2024, at the Stump Hole on Cape San Blas in Port St. Joe, Florida, starting at 4:00 PM
