Debra Burns Butler, affectionately known as Mrs. Debbie, was born on February 5, 1957, in Port St. Joe, Florida. She passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025, in Panama City, Florida, at the age of 68. Debbie leaves behind a remarkable legacy enriched by her dedication to her family and career.
Throughout her life, Debbie was known for her infectious laughter and warm personality. She graduated from Port St. Joe High School and pursued her passion for beauty by attending cosmetology school. For thirty years, she owned and operated Active Styles Beauty Salon, where she became a beloved figure in the community. Her work not only showcased her exceptional skills as a cosmetologist but also her genuine care for her clients, many of whom became dear friends.
Debbie's proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent mother and grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her family. There was no favorite hobby that occupied her time; rather, her greatest joy came from simply being with her loved ones, whether it was participating in their activities or sharing precious moments together.
She was a lifelong resident of Gulf County and attended Oak Grove Church for many years. Debbie's commitment to her community and family was a hallmark of her character, and she will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Debbie is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Dit Butler of Howard Creek, Florida; two sons, Rhett Butler and wife Brittnie of Port St. Joe, Florida, and Chase Butler and wife Katie of Port St. Joe, Florida; and her beloved grandchildren, Miles, Rilan, Parker, Brantley, Cole, Addison, and Caroline. Mrs. Debbie is also survived by a very special sister in law and caregiver that was more like a sister, Tammie Butler.
She was predeceased by her parents, James Burns and Opal Cannon Howard and Foy Howard, as well as her brother, Jimmy Ferrell Burns. Debbie's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will carry forward the love and joy she brought into their lives.
Visitation will be held on March 21, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Holly Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Dave Fernandez officiating. Those wishing to pay their respects are welcomed to join in celebrating the life of this extraordinary woman who touched so many lives with her kindness and love.
