Evielee Iona Ethridge

January 16, 1934 — August 11, 2024

Our beloved mother and multi-generational grandmother, EvieLee Iona Ethridge, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday August 10th, 2024. Momma was born in Calhoun County, FL on January 16th, 1934 to James Matthew (Boss) and Annie (Armstrong) Ethridge. Mama was 90 years old at the time of her passing at the Life Care Center of Bruceton-Hollow Rock in Bruceton, Tennessee.

Momma loved to cook, clean and sing. She was a homemaker and housekeeper to many families in Kinard, over the years. Mama loved flowers, her yard was full of many various blooms and she could call them all by name. While cooking she loved to listen to country and gospel music, especially George Jones. She attended church regularly and sang many of the songs she knew by heart. Momma always made sure no-one left her house hungry. EvieLee Iona was most well-known for being a precise historian. Her ability to recall many specific events in entire detail. Most especially, dates and times of births, community events, the names of people who attended and places she had visited. Her laughter and endless humorous anecdotes were enjoyed by all. As a long time resident of Kinard, she found joy in attending "the schoolhouse dinners". In particular, Momma enjoyed helping to prepare food by baking "biscuits and shake and bake chicken" to bring. She also delighted in wading in the spring and Kinard Creek with her children and grandchildren.

EvieLee Iona was the youngest of her sisters, all of which preceded her in death. She remembered often and fondly; Florida, Annie Belle, Laura Mae and Vic. Momma also lost two children during her lifetime, James "Dewey" Pitts and Wondale Pitts. She spoke of them well and often.

Momma leaves remaining to mourn her passing and reminisce lovingly; (son) Winiferd Pitts of Wewahitchka, FL, (daughter) Charolette Hysmith of Camden, TN (son's) Dwight and Mack Morgan of Kinard, FL. She is survived, as well, by her grandchildren; Constance Kent, Ashley Reichard, Kelly Hysmith, Donna Laurimore, Jason Laurimore, Matthew and Micah Morgan, Brianna and Madison Morgan, Ray McDaniel, and Chris Johnson. Her great-grandchildren; Jacob, Emileigh, Laban, Samuel, Jake "Ty", Nathan, Kyle, Aislinn, Gage, Jennifer, and Britney. great- great-grandchildren; Marshall and Adalie.
