George Hyram Crews

George Hyram Crews age 76 of Cape San Blas, Florida passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on May 8, 1946, where he spent his life until moving to Gulf County in 2006. George was a veteran of  the United States Army and served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. He spent many years coaching his sons in multiple sports and continued coaching other kids for many seasons. George worked as a train conductor at Birmingham Southern Railroad for thirty-six years before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, riding on the beach, and playing poker.


He was preceded in death by his parents.


George is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Nancy Jo Crews of Cape San Blas, Florida; two sons, Christopher George Crews of Oregon and Blake Ellis Crews of Cape San Blas, Florida; one brother, John Ellis Crews (Sharon) of The Villages, Florida; two granddaughters, Olivia Elizabeth Crews and Sierra Laurel Crews. He is also survived by his two special fur babies, Pepi and Marcy.
