George W. Simmons Sr.

George W. Simmons Sr. age 84, longtime resident of Port St. Joe, Florida passed away at home on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. He was born in Wausau, Florida on September 22, 1939 to the late Jesse Simmons and Georgie Morris Simmons. George was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. George attended Hope Family Worship Center in Port St. Joe, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, George W. Simmons Jr. “Buddy”.

George is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Hattie Hazel Simmons of Port St. Joe, Florida; two children, Aaron Simmons of Panama City, Florida and Kristie Williams (Joey) of Panama City, Florida; one brother, Tommy Simmons of Wewahitchka, one nephew, Andrew Simmons; six grandchildren, George W. Simmons III “Trey”, Lee Erwin, Samantha Hammack (Taylor), Ryan Simmons, Kellie Simmons, and Jerry Simmons; three great-grandchildren, George W. Simmons IIII, Colby Simmons, and Levi Erwin.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Eastern Time on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Holly Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe, Florida with Reverend Glenn Davis officiating.
