Hattie Peral Hunter

Hattie Peral Hunter, age 53, of Wewahitchka, Florida, passed away on September 30, 2024. She was born on February 24, 1971, to Charles Maxwell Fisher and the late Sheila Ann Fisher. Affectionately known as "Pearl," Hattie was a devoted wife, mother, educator, and friend whose impact will be felt for generations to come.


At the age of 19, Hattie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a faithful member of Faison Temple Church of Christ Written In Heaven, serving under the leadership of the late Bishop Walter E. Williams for over 30 years. She held various leadership roles, including serving on the Finance Board, Pastoral Committee, and as Secretary, as well as lending her voice to the Praise Team.


Hattie’s educational journey began in the Gulf County school system, leading to her graduation from Wewahitchka High School in 1989. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and a Master’s degree from the University of West Florida. As a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, she exemplified the ideals of Finer Womanhood, while also promoting the professional and personal growth of women educators as President of the local chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Hattie dedicated 30 years to the Gulf County School system, serving as a teacher, assistant principal, and administrator. She was not only an educator but also a friend, counselor, mentor, and guide, profoundly shaping the futures of countless students,

administrators, and staff along her life’s journey.


Hattie is survived by her father, Charles Maxwell Fisher (Princess Fisher) of Wewahitchka, FL; her beloved husband of 34 years, Kim Hunter; and her devoted son, Samuel Jaden Hunter of Wewahitchka, FL. She also leaves behind three sisters, Ann

Fisher Ogbuagu (Arinze Ogbuagu) of Wewahitchka, FL, Sheiletta Fisher of Dallas, GA, and LaTonya Griffin (Ernest Griffin) of Dallas, GA; two brothers, John Miller Sr. of Panama City, FL, and Kaloski Chambers (Aisha Chambers) of Blountstown, FL; her

father-in-law, Eddie Hunter, Sr., and mother-in-law, Riller Hunter of Wewahitchka, FL; brothers-in-law, Jeffrey Hunter and Eddie Hunter (Lisa Hunter) of Wewahitchka, FL; sister-in-law, Rita Hunter of Wewahitchka, FL; and a special bond with her nephews and nieces, Jamaree Hunter, Calvin Miller, Alicia Miller, John Miller, Jr., Tyler Chambers, Tayler Rivers, McKenzie Mercado, Lauren Griffin, Mason Griffin, Artess Chambers and Temujin Chambers. She is also survived by her two goddaughters, Randy Jewel Gautier and Taylynn Johnson, and close friends Micah Peak, Stephanie Wade, Barbara Gautier, Pam Williams and Sheila Williams. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Hattie Pearl Hunter’s legacy of love, faith, and commitment to God, her family and education will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of many.


Services will be held at the Wewahitchka High School gym on Saturday, October 5, 2024 with the visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M. Central Time and the funeral starting at 2:00 P.M. Central Time. Interment will follow at Buckhorn Cemetery in Wewahitchka, Florida.
