Funeral Services for James E. Hay “Abo” will be Saturday September 9th, 2023 at 1:00 ET at Beach Baptist Chapel, at St. Joe Beach, FL with Brother David Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Rest Cemetery.
Abo passed away peacefully on his 85th birthday, September 1, 2023 with his family all around him at the Vitas Hospice Health Care in Panama City, FL. The Vitas team were a blessing to us and provided loving care to Abo and our family.
Abo worked as a master craftsman carpenter for many years at Raffield’s Fisheries and was well known in our area for his expertise and love of building and fixing things. Abo enjoyed the automotive hobby and restored several hot rods. Abo loved shark fishing, boating, and gardening and being outdoors. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.
Abo is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gracie Hay, his brother Howard Hay, sister in law Betty Hay, nephew Scott Hay, brother Billy Hay, sister Glenda Kennedy and brother in law Steve Kennedy, and son in law Tim Moore.
Abo is survived by his wife Diane, his son Michael and daughter in law Amy Hay, his daughter Michelle Moore Hay, his brother Gary and sister in law Bridget Hay of Dothan Al, brother Pete Hay of Stewartville Al., sister in law Joann Hay, sister in law Sherry Hay, and sister in law Kay and her husband Paul Sprayberry, and grandson Jayson Corbell, granddaughter Sarah Brewer and grand son in law Chance, and 3 great grandchildren, Peyton , Brooklyn, and Greyson and many, many nieces and nephews, and cousins and many dear friends.
