John Wesley Sapp Sr.

John Wesley Sapp Sr., better known as “Thumper” age 84 of Apalachicola, Florida passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. He was born in Washington County, Florida on March 19, 1937 to the late Thomas Monroe Sapp and Betty Idell Brown Sapp. Thumper spent sixty plus years in Franklin County where he worked as a fisherman, boat builder, and handy man. He was of the Christian faith and attended Living Waters Assembly of God. In his spare time, Thumper enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being a mechanic. His greatest love was being a Pawpaw, Daddy, and husband. He adored the time spent with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randy Lamar Sapp; one daughter, Tina McClain; siblings, Annie Mae Finch, Thomas Sapp Jr., Mary Jane, Rachel, Ferrell, Charles, and Daniel. Thumper is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Betty Lou Sapp of Apalachicola, Florida; children, John Sapp Jr. (Denice) of Apalachicola, Dona Gordon (Duane) of Mobile, Alabama, Lori Wilson (Terry) of Apalachicola, and Corey Sapp (Jody) of Apalachicola; brothers, Donald Jones, William Sapp, and Joe Sapp. He is also survived by numerous grand children, great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, February 11, 2022 in the Living Waters Assembly of God Church in Apalachicola with Pastor Scottie Lolley and Reverend Scott Shiver officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Arrangements are entrusted to the caring staff of Comforter Funeral Home in Port St. Joe, FL.
