Lonnie "L.C." Charles Ash Sr.

May 14, 1943 — July 27, 2023

A legacy well remembered, Lonnie Charles Ash Sr. more affectionately known as L.C. entered into eternal rest on the late evening of Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Cross Shores Nursing Home in Port St. Joe, Florida.


He was born May 14, 1943 to Ella Mae Smith and stepfather, Henry Smith in Wewahitchka, Florida. L.C. was raised along with his beloved twin brother Charles Lee Ash (C.L.) by their grandparents Ander and Flossie Ash. In his years he received his Christian training at St. John Free-Will Baptist Church in Wewahitchka and later became a member of New Life Christian Center in Port St Joe where he served as a senior usher until his passing. Lonnie received his education from the Gulf County School System. He would eventually move to Port St. Joe where he spent the rest of his life. L.C. worked hard over the years and was a talented Paint & Body man and a successful fishing guide. He loved everybody, especially children. L.C. was full of life and always happy. He will be remembered in a special way by many, particularly his Brothers of The Sun Motorcycle Club. L.C. loved playing and coaching softball, fishing, and painting cars. L.C. also enjoyed great debates with his twin brother C.L.


He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, special mom, “Mamma Carrie Bailey”.


Lonnie “L.C.” leaves a legacy of unforgettable memories with his children, Yolanda Davis (Paul Davis) of Cairo, GA, Xavier Ash (Felis) of Crawfordville, FL, Lonnie Charles Ash Jr. (Terey) of Tallahassee, FL, Kristie Ash (Leroy) of Port St. Joe, FL, Darrin Callaway Sr. of Port St. Joe, FL, Ernest Gant (Maddie) of Birmingham, AL, and Randall Gant of Port St. Joe, FL; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; special son, Sidney Harris; special sister, Katrina McNeal; great friend, Franklin Allen; caring friends, Beasley Shackleford, Kantra King, and Mrs. Dot Odom.


Home going services will be held at Church of God in Christ (163 Ave D, Port St. Joe, FL 32456) at 1:00 P.M. Eastern Time on Saturday, August 12, 2023. A time of visitation will be held at 12:00 P.M.


Arrangements are entrusted to the caring staff of Comforter Funeral Home in Port St. Joe, Florida.
