Ollie V Neel, age 89, of White City, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023, surrounded by her family at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Panama City, Florida. The daughter of the late William and Vallie Kennedy, Ollie was born in November 1933, in Alabama. Ollie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 44 years Marcus Neel.
Ollie is survived by her children James Hersey (Elvia), Tonya Bailey (Wesley), and Martin Neel (April); her grandchildren Joshua Hersey (Crystal), Adam Nixon (Jamie), Jennifer Hersey (Chris), and Whitney Nixon (John); her great grandchildren Jake Hersey, Wyatt Hersey, and Madilyn Hersey; and her sister Mavis Flight (Chip).
Ollie dedicated over 35 years working in the Port St. Joe High School cafeteria where she touched the lives of everyone around her. With her love of cooking, no one ever went hungry around her, not even the neighborhood turtles, foxes, and bears. An avid gardener whose green thumb was unsurpassed, Ollie was known for growing everything from cotton to massive cabbages. Ollie enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as a good cup of coffee, growing plants, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. She was a devoted member of the White City Baptist Church.
Per Ollie's wishes, a graveside service will be held at the gazebo at Holly Hill Cemetery on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. Eastern Time with Reverend Nick Davis officiating.
