Rev. Levy Madison Cooper

Levy Madison Cooper, 96, passed away peacefully in his home on June 26, 2022 of natural causes. Born May 6, 1926 in Apalachicola, Levy grew up here before joining the United States Navy during World War II on April 28, 1944. He was honorably discharged on December 23, 1945. Levy attended Jones Business College in Jacksonville, Fl where he met his future wife, Marjorie Jeanette Day of Greenville, Fl. They married on October 15, 1950 and were married for 65 years. After 50 plus years as a Baptist pastor and church planter, Levy and his wife Jeanette retired to Apalachicola in 1999 where he continued to serve the Lord as an interim pastor, a pulpit supply preacher for many churches in the surrounding area, and deacon at Fellowship Baptist Church of Apalachicola.

Levy is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Ezekiel Cooper and May Viola Hall-Cooper of Apalachicola; his wife, Jeanette; his son, Timothy Neilson Cooper of Florence, Al; his brothers, John Henry, Wesley, Charlie, Eugene; his twin brother, Alonzo (Lonnie), Fred and his sister, Sadie Cooper-Gilbert.

He is survived by his daughters, Melanie Roxanne Toye of Largo, Fl and Terri Thomas (John Thomas) of Apalachicola, Fl and his daughter-in-law Brenda White-Cooper of Florence, Al. Levy has been blessed with 7 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors at Fellowship Baptist Church of Apalachicola located at 10 Ellis Van Vleet St. at 10:00 a.m. on July 9th. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a graveside service to follow immediately afterwards in Magnolia Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to Missionary Baptist Seminary, 5224 Stagecoach Road, Little Rock, AR 72204.

Arrangements are entrusted to the caring staff of Comforter Funeral Home in Port St. Joe, Florida.
