Ronnie Lee Coatney age 73, a simple man with a big heart, passed away peacefully at his home in Apalachicola, Florida on Friday, January 3, 2025. Born on June 18, 1951 in Perry, Florida, Ronnie lived a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of simple pleasures.
For many years, Ronnie worked as a semi driver for seafood companies, taking pride in his role within the local community. In his earlier days, he enjoyed fishing on the Apalachicola River, a pastime that brought him much happiness. As he grew older, Ronnie loved taking rides around town and down by the water, enjoying the beauty of his surroundings.
He was a devoted member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Apalachicola, where he created many cherished memories throughout his life. Ronnie's faith was important to him, and he had a deep connection with his Lord and Savior.
Ronnie leaves behind his beloved wife of 8 years, Debbie Coatney, who resides in Apalachicola, Florida. He is also survived by his daughter, Cindy Carpenter, and her husband, Scott, both of Apalachicola. In addition, he is remembered fondly by his three brothers: Jimmy Ray Coatney, who is married to Laura Ann and lives in Apalachicola; Kenneth Coatney of Arkansas; and Donnie Coatney of Apalachicola. Ronnie's K-9 companion, Tiny, and his grand dogs, Bailey and Jake, were also significant parts of his life.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his only daughter, Eva Mae Coatney, as well as his parents, William Coatney and Maude Phillips Coatney.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, starting at 11:00 AM Eastern Time, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM Eastern Time with Sister Roach officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
