Sadie Darlene Cox age 67 of Apalachicola, Florida passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 in Panama City, Florida. She was born on June 16, 1954 in Kinston, North Carolina to the late Finnie Howard and Sadie Mae Howard. Darlene enjoyed taking care of and nursing animals back to health. She dearly loved red birds and elephants. Darlene adored her grandchildren and was nicknamed “GG”, short for Grumpy Granny. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jason Cox, one sister, Mavis Rouse and one brother, Linwood Howard. Darlene is survived by her husband, Albert Lee Cox Jr. of Virginia; one son, William Cox and wife Pamela of Apalachicola, Florida; daughter in law, Rebecca Cox of North Carolina; two sisters, Avis Elaine Hill of North Carolina and Alice Jean Dowdell and husband Ivan of Ohio; one brother, Kenneth Howard of North Carolina; grandchildren, Matthew and wife Courtney of Apalachicola, Florida, Katelyn Cox and fiance Justin Garcia of Apalachicola, Florida, Alexandria Cox and Claudia Cox, both of North Carolina, and Layla VanDerSchaaf of Apalachicola, Florida; one great-grandson, William Cox of Apalachicola. A Celebration of Life service will be held in North Carolina at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the caring staff of Comforter Funeral Home in Port St. Joe, FL.
