Sandra Jean Yarbrough

Sandra Jean Yarbrough, born Sandra Jean Massions on December 9, 1942, in Derby, Kansas passed away peacefully on March 27, 2024, at the age of 81 in Mexico Beach, Florida. She was a loving mother, step-mother and grandmother. Sandie, as she was known to many, had a warm and generous spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her.

Sandie had a fulfilling career, working at AT&T for over 20 years in Dallas and Atlanta. Her dedication and hard work were evident in all she did. In her retirement years, Sandie had a passion for photography, cooking, traveling and city government. She especially loved capturing moments through the lens and exploring new places with Italy being a favorite destination.

Sandie lived in Mexico Beach for over 25 years. As a resident she served on the Mexico Beach CDC (tourism commission) for many years. Sandie was appointed to the MBCDC Board of Directors in 2005, served as Secretary/Treasurer from 2009-2015, then Chairman until 2023. She was a faithful and dedicated board member demonstrating her support to the town she loved and from which she was blessed with so many wonderful friends and neighbors.

Sandie was a vibrant soul who adored her family and friends. She was a gracious and loving mother and grandmother to her daughter Dawn Kinsella (Joe), step-daughter Kat Fyten (Dan), grandsons Dr. Joseph (Jake) Kinsella and Daniel Kinsella. They will always cherish the memories they shared with her. Sandie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Yarbrough.

A special thank you to Covenant Care and the kind and loving women from Rose Heart Home Care who enabled Sandie to spend her days at home visited by family and friends.

A private service will be held at Comforter Home in Port St. Joe on April 7, 2024 to honor and celebrate Sandie’s life. An open reception will be at the Driftwood Inn from 5 - 8 pm (CST).

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society (donate.cancer.org) in Sandie’s memory.
