Sandy Kaye Elders

March 14, 1975 — April 9, 2024

Sandy Kaye Elders, age 49, went to be with the Good Lord on April 9, 2024. She was born on March 14,1975 in Opelika, Alabama. Sandy spent 38 years there in her hometown before she and her family made the move to sunny Mexico Beach, Florida. The beach was her serendipity. Anthony Elders was the love of her life. They got married in 1994 at Providence Baptist Church in Beauregard, Alabama; the same church that she was baptized in at eight years old. Picking up shells and walking the beach was their favorite past time. She worked as a paralegal for over 20 years in both Alabama and Florida. In the 8th grade, she was the champion for the Alabama Junior Rodeo Association for the All-Around Cowgirl, Barrel Racing, and Goat Tying. In high-school, she won the American Cowboy Association Barrel Racer of the Year. She also won the rodeo at Destin on the beach which put her ahead of other competitors. Sandy loved talking about her two beloved sons, Ian and Nathan Elders. They were her world and kept close to her heart. She always kept a positive mindset no matter what. Sandy was a great friend to many and will be very sorely missed.

Sandy is preceded in death by her grandfather, Guilford Evans "Sonny" Young, and her mother in law, Andrea Elders.

She is survived by her husband, Anthony Charles Elders; two sons, Anthony Ian Elders and Nathan Zachary Elders; father, Barry Lee Brown; mother, Margaret Ann Young; brother, Barry Lee Brown II (Monica); sister, Dixie Ann Brown Riley (Antimayeo); two nephews, Jarred Andrew Bedwell and Zachary Austin Bedwell, and her only niece Milena Odessia "Mila" Brown, followed by a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of her family.
