Scott Edgar Burkett

Scott Edgar Burkett, age 53 of Port St Joe, Florida passed away in his home on Saturday February 17th, 2024. Scott was born in Atlanta, GA on June 29th , 1970. Scott grew up in Peachtree City, GA, and lived his younger adult life throughout the greater Atlanta area. Scott moved to Port St. Joe in 2006, and here is where he found his forever home after meeting and marrying Mary, his wife of 11 years.

Scott was a Co-owner of Coastal Joe Vacation Rentals, which he helped to start in 2006. It was truly his pride and joy! It is here that Scott would find his way to developing many wonderful relationships and friendships with staff, cleaners, vendors, homeowners and a few lucky renters; especially anyone who could talk Manchester United, favorite TV shows or old times with his brother Brian with him! Anyone that knew Scott knew he could be found at one of a few places in town: Coastal Joe Vacation Rentals, his home on Garrison, or the Piggly Wiggly! He was a creature of habit for sure!

Scott is mourned by his wife, Mary Burkett and daughter Kaleigh Burkett, stepsons, Jacob and Josh Tully; His daughter Kimberlie Burkett and her 3 children: Roxanne, Barrett and Jaxon Thron, parents: Sherrill and Preston Russ and his brother and brother’s wife Brian & Megan Burkett and their children, Elliana, Sadie and Taylor.

Scott will be remembered dearly by all who loved him and got to experience the fervor and excitement he brought to all the people he encountered. We will forever and always miss our Spanky.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, February 23rd, 2024 beginning at 2:00 P.M. Eastern Time.
