Selitta Montez Davis

On May 13, 1965 Jack and Bonnie Whitehurst welcomed an 8lbs, blue eyed girl into the world. Her name was Selitta Montez, affectionately called Monk by her family. She would be the fourth of five children. On August 31, 1990, Monk would go on to marry Dale Davis and together they began a new family, which would also include Dale’s two daughters, Aymee and Ashlee. In time Dale and Monk would welcome the first child of their marriage into the world, Erica on June 20, 1991 and later their second, Matthew, would follow on January 24, 1996 to complete their family…almost. Monk would later go on to become an honorary mother figure to Tomilee Dowden. Family was something Monk valued above all else, and no one can deny her love nor dedication to her family as being nothing less than genuine and pure. On Sunday, December 17, 2023 our Monk left us peacefully in her sleep.

She is preceded in death by her father, Jack Whitehurst; sister Trina Sullivan, and brother Jackie Whitehurst.

She is survived by husband of 33 years, Dale Davis; mother, Bonnie Whitehurst; daughters, Aymee Weaver (Mark), Ashlee Davis, Erica Wilson (William) and Tomilee Davis (Andrew); son, Matthew Davis; sister, Lisa Marras (Nayton); brother, Dean Whitehurst (Lynn); six grandsons; one granddaughter; one great granddaughter and countless nieces and nephews.

There are no words to express how deeply she is missed already nor to say how much she will be missed in the many years to come.

Funeral Services will be held at United Baptist Church in Eastpoint, Florida on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 12:00 P.M. Eastern Time with Pastor Scott Shiver officiating. Burial will follow at Eastpoint Cemetery.

A time of visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Eastern Time.
