Stephen "Steve" Wayne Garey

Stephen "Steve" Wayne Garey, age 72, born on January 8, 1952, in Macon, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at his residence in Wewahitchka, Florida, where he had called home since 2014. An accomplished electrician by trade, Steve was known for his unwavering dedication to his work and his remarkable ability to connect with others.

Steve lived life to the fullest, embracing adventure and the joy of being outdoors. In his younger days, he reveled in the thrill of fast motorcycles and racing. His love for the water was evident when he lived in Georgia, where he spent cherished moments on the river fishing, hunting, and camping with family. Moving to Wewahitchka opened new horizons for Steve; he took pleasure in kayaking, cooking, and building memories with friends, especially with his best friend and caregiver, Denie Bell.

Steve is survived by his two sons, Shaun Garey and his wife Mandi of Gray, Georgia, and Cory Garey of Greece. He is also remembered fondly by his brother Chris Garey and his wife Linda of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and his sister Debbie Seabolt of Gray, Georgia. In addition, he leaves behind his sister-in-law, Vickie Garey of Gray, Georgia, and two beloved grandchildren, Graci Garey and Sayler Garey, both of Gray, Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Garey and Ann Dennison Garey, as well as his twin brother, Mike Garey, and brothers Randy Garey, James Hamlin, and Charles Hamlin. Steve's warmth and zest for life will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
