Towan Peters Kopinsky

Towan Peters Kopinsky, a lifelong resident of Port St. Joe, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in Panama City, Florida at the age of 60. Born on December 29, 1964, in Waynesboro, Mississippi, Towan's early life was marked by a profound connection to her community, which she served with dedication throughout her career.

Towan embarked on her professional journey at a young age, working for Gulf County in a variety of roles. Over the span of more than 30 years, she established herself as a cherished member of the workforce, leaving a lasting legacy upon her retirement.

An alumna of Port St. Joe High School, Towan held her education in high regard, cherishing the relationships she formed along the way. She was known for her vibrant spirit and was deeply passionate about the water, often enjoying fishing and spending time at the beach – activities that brought her great joy.

Towan's proudest accomplishments lie within her family, showcasing her unwavering love for her daughters and grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved parents, Larry Peters and Jean Peters of Port St. Joe, Florida; her two daughters, Shanna Watson and her husband Bryan of Tallahassee, Florida, and Jeni Quinn and her husband Roman of Port St. Joe, Florida. Towan was a doting grandmother to five grandchildren, Brynleighn Watson, Londyn Quinn, Khai Quinn, Oaklan Quinn, and Kashton Quinn. She treasured the moments spent with them, particularly enjoying their overnight visits, which filled her home with laughter and warmth.

Towan is predeceased by her father, Doyle Freeman; her daughter, Whitney McLemore; and her sister, Peggy Peters. Although deeply missed, her spirit will carry on through her family and the countless lives she touched during her lifetime.

In honor of Towan’s memory, a memorial service will be held on January 19, 2025, at WindMark Beach Church in Port St. Joe, Florida, providing loved ones and friends an opportunity to come together to celebrate her life and legacy.
