Troy Lynwood Gay

Troy Lynwood Gay, 85, of Kennesaw, GA passed away at his home Monday, November 13, 2023, after a five month battle with pancreatic cancer. Troy was born February 12, 1938, in Wewahitchka, FL to Tobe and Ruby Gay.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Martin "Buddy" Gay; sisters, Mary Ellen Marshall, and Molly Joy Carter; his niece, Lisa Carter; and nephew, Mark Gay.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gisela Bechtel Gay, and son Dirk Gay; brother Tobe Gay, Jr.; nieces and nephews Karen Gay Burge, Joy Gay Johnson, Mitchell Gay, Arvelia Gay Williamson, Dale Marshall, Joanna Gay Ward, and Salina Ray.

Troy was born and raised in Wewahitchka, where he attended church, made many friends, and graduated from Wewahitchka High School in 1956. He joined the Army and served his country during the Cold War. It was during his deployment to Germany that he met the love of his life, Gisela. They were married in Wewahitchka in 1960, and their son Dirk was born in Wewahitchka in 1961. During the several years that they lived in Wewa, Troy worked at the box plant and did odd jobs to make extra money, while also attending Gulf Coast Community College, and Florida State University, where he earned his degree in Business. They later moved to Columbus, GA where Troy worked as Production Manager for Coca-Cola. After his tenure with Coca-Cola, he worked as Production Manager at Proctor and Gamble. Troy was a man of deep faith who loved his family and friends. In his youth, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his father and brothers. Later, he enjoyed golf, collecting antiques, and remodeling old homes they had purchased for rental properties. He was a man of wisdom, wit, and integrity, who will be missed by all who knew and loved him

Visitation will be held at the home of Mitchell and Rhonda Gay, 111 Canopie Rd, Wewahitchka, FL. Friday, November 17th from 5:00-7:00 pm, central time.

A graveside service will be held at Roberts Cemetery on Saturday, November 18th at 1:00 P.M.
