Vannessa Hicks

Vannessa Hicks, longtime resident of Eastpoint, Florida passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the age of 51. She was born in Pompano, Florida on December 24, 1971 to the late Willie Gordie and Iva Lea Mealer Gordie. Vannessa was an avid FSU fan and she enjoyed all sorts of flowers and gardening. She was known as a very caring person and would go out of her way to help anyone. Vannessa adored her family and treasured spending time with her grand babies.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Timothy Gordie and one nephew, William Hammond.

Left to cherish Vannessa’s memory is her loving husband of twenty years, Michael Hicks of Eastpoint, Florida; one daughter, Ashley Strevel of Carrabelle, Florida; five stepchildren, Michael Gene Hicks (Haley Cruse) of Eastpoint, Florida, Brandy Raffield (Ashley) of Sumatra, Florida, Shandie Strevel (Daniel Hicks) of Perry, Florida, Scott Strevel of Perry, Florida, and Derek Strevel of Carrabelle, Florida; four brothers, Curtis Gordie of Eastpoint, Florida, Rome Goodson of Crawfordville, Florida, Carlton Goodson, John Goodson, and William Gordie all of Eastpoint, Florida; five sisters, Tammy Gordie and Linda McQuagge (Willie) both of Eastpoint, Florida, Terri Gordie of Alabama, Crystal Strahan (Jay) of Apalachicola, Florida and Regina Gordie (Steve) of Eastpoint, Florida; twelve grandchildren, Jaydyn, Skylyn, Hadley, Draycen, Jaxston, Waylen, Liam, Nevaeh, Camdyn, Donivyn, Lane, and Leo.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Eastern Time on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Eastpoint, Florida with Pastor Dan Fender officiating.
