William Herbert Loftus, age 84 of St. Joe Beach, Florida passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, May 22, 2022. He was born in Newark, New Jersey on March 3, 1938 to the late Herbert and Claire Loftus. William was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps SEMPER FI. He spent most of his life in Fairhaven, New York where he worked and retired as a foreman in a newspaper distribution company. While in upstate New York, William enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, picking berries, making fruit preserves, horticulture, and gardening. After moving to Gulf County in 2010, he took up a new hobby that he loved, that was going to the Good Sense store and the Habitat for Humanity. William was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Claire Loftus; daughter, Kimberly Loftus; grandson, John Johnson and maternal grandmother, Helen Rothacker. William is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judith Maldonado Mercader Loftus; children, Keith Loftus (Raishah) of Boca Raton, FL, Karen Lumpuy (Marcus) of Sarasota, FL, William H. Loftus Jr. (Sarah) of Long Valley, New Jersey, and Craig Loftus of New York; brother, Albert Loftus (Andrea) of Las Vegas; sister, Jean Ancher of New Port Richie, FL; grandchildren, Josh, Kiki, Kurt, Billy, Tyler, Chelsea, Sabrina, Brandon, Trevor, Xavier, Gabby, Hayden and Tara and four great grandchildren. Memorialization will be by cremation. Arrangements are trusted to the caring staff of Comforter Funeral Home in Port Saint Joe. A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.
