It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Woodrow Butler, Jr. on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at the age of 76. Woodrow was born November 10, 1947 in Altha, Florida to parents Woodrow and Eunice Butler.
Woodrow met the love of his life and beloved wife, Willie Butler of 39 years. Woodrow, known to those close to him as “Duke”, was known for his strong work ethic, support of the community, determination, and an unwavering love and support for his family. He was a devout member of Old Country Church of God in Panama City, Florida and later the Graceville Community Church. Duke spent 15 years working for Waste Management before retiring, where he then spent all his available time in support of the church.
He was preceded in death by: parents Woodrow and Eunice Butler and his sisters Gloria Jean Marshall and Joann Sapp.
Duke is survived by daughter Jacquelyn (Paul) Johnson; grandchildren Lucas Capps, Preston Capps, Dalton Capps, Aidan Capps, and Mattie’lin Capps; great grandson Lucas River Capps; brothers Jimmy (Junie) Butler, Buddy Wayne Butler, Earl (Jean) Butler, Samuel (Esther) Butler; and he is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at High Calling Church in Eastpoint, Florida on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. Eastern Time with Pastor Ronald Crum officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. Eastern Time. Duke will be laid to rest in Eastpoint Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Duke’s name.
